In the first chapter of this weeks reading, Winston makes his way to the secret hiding place to meet the girl that loves him. He follows the instructions and finds her just before getting to the hiding spot. They go to the spot and Winston finds out that Julia is part of the Youth Anti-Sex League. This is quite ironic because she admits to having sex with "scores of men," yet she is a counselor of the anti-sex league. I also found it weird that Winston like the corruption of Julia, with having all the sex. For him, it's an excuse to get away from the "real world." Also in my previous blog, I said that I thought Julia may work for the Inner Party. When the rocket almost hit them, I thought of that. This could be an unsuccessful murder attempt. But I could be wrong. Rockets are hitting London on a daily basis.
Later on, Julia is expressing her feelings about the Inner Party. He hates them. I found it interesting on Julia's views on sex. When we have sex, we use all of our energy, but we feel happy. Winston has eliminated his gin drinking, and replaced it with sex in Mr. Charrington's room.
One thing I don't understand, why does Winston wish Katherine was dead? I thought she was vaporized already.

I think that Winston is not sure if Katherine is still alive. He wants her to be dead because if she is not dead Winston is still married to her.
You made a good assumption about why the rocket almost hit them, I thought that perhaps it was like a foreshadowing that if they continue to stay together, they will both be killed, or vaporized, by the party. I wondered why he thought that about Katherine too, but like Illka said, when someone is vaporized they aren't really pronounced "dead" they just didn't exist. I imagine it's hard to make the decision of whether you should believe they are dead or alize, and whether or not you should move on with your life.
Winston noticed the Anti-Sex League sash when he saw her before. Don't you remember when we discussed that the sash was ironic because it symbolized the Anti-Sex League but it was somewhat provacative because it showed her figure and her curves. Also I don't think that Katherine was vaporized. I don't remember the book saying anything about that. I just thought Winston and Katharine split up because they couldn't have kids together, and Winston just hasn't seen her since.
I agree that I don't think Katherine was vaporized. He wants her to be though, so he may have some chance of marrying Julia.
I somewhat--in the back of my mind--suspected Julia of being part of the Inner Party as well, but now I really don't see her as being that way because of how many times she's expressed her hatred and how she values her relationship with Winston so much.
